VTV.vn - Today, April 18th, is the Vietnam Day for People with Disabilities. Among many events held to mark the occasion, an art show entitled “Our Love Stories” took place in Hanoi last week.

The show sent a message that “Love is indiscriminate. Everybody, regardless of their age, qualifications, or disability, has the equal right to love and be loved”.

This is part of a play called “The miracle of life” that left the audience in tears. People with disabilities often face objections from their families about their relationships. How can such a couple get approval and support from their families and society?

"Through some research and surveys, we saw that love is what many of our members care about. Many of the students here have met and become couples. We chose this topic also because we want to send a message of love to the audience. Love doesn’t discriminate against people with different physical conditions", Nguyen Van Thang, Head of Organisers "Our Love Stories", Chairman, Alumni Association of “Will to Live” Center, said.

Beside plays and musical performances with the theme of love, “Our Love Stories” is where couples with disabilities shared how they overcame barriers from family and society. Dung and Kiên were among these couples. Dung has dwarfism, and Kien has a movement disability.

“Our Love Stories” is not only where the love stories of people with disabilities are shared, but also an effort to raise awareness about a basic human right: “Everybody, with or without a disability, has the right to love and be loved”.
