Accordingly, total aquaculture production this year is estimated at 6.6 million tonnes, while export turnover reached US$6.7 billion.
Compared to statistics in 2014, total production has increased by 3.6%; however, export turnover fell by more than 14%. It is predicted that in 2016, a sluggish global economy, negative impacts of El Nino, and other issues will continue to affectaquaculture production. Therefore, the Ministry will continue to restructure the sector to be more sustainable in the year to come.
