The US was the largest importer with more than 50 percent of the country’s cashew export volume. The association believes that it is possible to meet the quota of 350,000 tonnes and the total turnover from exporting cashew may reach 2.5 billion USD.
At present, the price of raw cashew in the country is relatively high at over 1.5 USD per kilo. However, farmer incomes have remained disappointing due to low productivity. Raw cashew production in Vietnam has fallen 20% compared to the same period last year.
