While almost all other agricultural exports like rubber, coffee and rice faced declining prices and quantities, overseas shipments of cashew nuts continued to rise thanks to increasing export prices and higher demand. In the first nine months, cashew export prices increased by 10.25% against the same period last year.
In January-September, cashew exports brought home US$1.78 billion in turnover.
The US, Netherlands and China were the three largest importers of Vietnamese cashew nuts.
MoIT forecasted that the global cashew market would improve in the remainder of the year especially on the occasion of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
