Vietnam and India to strengthen strategic partnership

VTV.vn - As part of the same visit, State President Truong Tan Sang also held a meeting with Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj yesterday (April 22nd).

President Truong Tan Sang emphasized the importance of the two nations’ friendship and implored to strengthen their existing strategic partnership. He also expressed the country’s determination to surpass 15 billion USD in trade turnover with India in 2020.

In response, Minister Swaraj showed her delight at the increased levels of cooperation between Vietnam and India in agriculture, textiles, petroleum and defence. She also pointed out the benefits that the Made in India campaign presents for the Vietnam - India collaboration. The two sides reiterated their responsibility to abide by international laws such as UNCLOS and resolve tensions by peaceful means.
