In response to the National Digital Transformation Day on October 10th and in line with the mission of VTV's Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with a vision towards 2030, to enhance awareness and progressively promote digital transformation activities in the television industry, Vietnam Television organized a seminar with the theme "Exploiting digital data and building a multi-platform content production and distribution infrastructure to serve the digital transformation of major multimedia communication agencies." The seminar received participation from leading television units in Vietnam and providers of the latest technological solutions for the television industry.

During the seminar, speakers presented a range of appealing content related to digital transformation in general, as well as valuable solutions for the television industry's digital transformation, such as Viettel Cloud and data protection for digital transformation in the television sector; Hybrid Cloud for news production at television stations; AI technology applications in creating metadata for television data management; AI technology applications in television program content production and verification; and the development direction of the National Digital Platform - VTVgo.

Apart from the relatively new issues that require research before official implementation, some problems demand rapid deployment for optimisation in production. For example, managing media assets through automation is one such concern. So, what is an automated media asset management system? In general, it is a system that stores structured information, facilitating easy access to stored data for users. With this automation service, management can easily monitor the work progress of each employee the results achieved, and make appropriate adjustments accordingly. Employees can also have a better grasp of their tasks. Not only does it support keyword-based search mechanisms or advanced search features, allowing users to easily find the desired information with a simple click, but an automated media asset management system also enhances data security by providing access permissions for specific information to individual employees. Additionally, these systems also store historical versions of document edits, making it easy for users to recover old data, ensuring information safety and mitigating the risk of data loss.

Let's focus on why it's crucial to apply AI technology in creating metadata for television data management, as well as in the production and verification of television program content. We all know that, with the growth of smart mobile devices and the continuous expansion of Internet bandwidth, including 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile technologies, the entertainment experience, in general, and television, in particular, have rapidly changed in recent years. Companies like Netflix, Amazon, Facebook, Google, Snapchat, among others, have seized the opportunity to change the way people watch and experience content. They have adjusted customer expectations in the media and entertainment (M&E) industry and directly competed with traditional M&E companies. Therefore, one of the crucial tasks for television stations today is to have a system for processing vast amounts of data, both content and workloads, as per customer demands.

To achieve this, television stations need to build metadata systems to serve television data management, as well as content production and verification. These systems must have cognitive capabilities to manage and process the ever-increasing media landscape. This enables the distribution of video content according to customer preferences and demands. In other words, AI technology is vital in helping television stations reclaim their position in the fiercely competitive video entertainment market today and in the future.

As someone who is consistently concerned about digital transformation in the media, sharing insights into the risks and opportunities of AI in spearheading a revolutionary change in the field of journalism and mass communication, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, has demonstrated and positioned the role of the information sector in the new phrase is shifting from "information" to "knowledge." The Deputy Minister emphasized that digital transformation and advanced technology have opened up new prospects and ushered in a paradigm shift in the ability to access information and drive innovation. This transition brings unprecedented opportunities and the potential for meaningful change within the information and communication sector. However, advanced digital technology has also given rise to the issue of information overload, resulting in an "information surplus." Consumers continuously consume information, whether genuine or fake, valuable knowledge or worthless junk. The proliferation of information, combined with algorithms tailored to user habits, can lead to distraction and reduced attention to informative content among users.

While information is abundant, the critical issue of our time is how to provide practical, credible, and accurate information to the public. Executing the value chain to achieve business efficiency and using the resulting business outcomes to serve the revolutionary journalism endeavor is the true essence of digital transformation for television stations, including THVN. THVN's efforts in digital transformation are primarily geared towards fulfilling its mission and duty to provide reliable information while preserving cultural identity and maintaining a healthy traditional media ecosystem for the citizens entrusted by the Party and State.
