In order to create favourable conditions for these workers, Quang Tri has employed extra staff to help process the paperwork.
From February 13th, the border gates received nearly 4 thousand people and vehicles, with around a thousand heading for their work to Laos. Vietnamese workers in Laos mainly focus on construction, trading, rubber and coffee growing. The authorities have attempted to improve cross-agency co-operation to provide better services.
"The border guards have put more staff to work to help people crossing the border gate fully understand the laws of the two countries. We also co-operate with Laos agencies to solve traffic backlogs when there are high volumes of passengers and vehicles", Major Luong Manh Hung, Vice Head of La Lay Border Post, Quang Tri Province, said.
The number of Vietnamese to Laos is expected to keep increasing until March, following the long lunar new year holiday. Quang Tri’s border gates have been making their best efforts to provide faster services and support people in crossing border to continue their work.
