The event drew the participation of representatives from US companies, the US Embassy, and leaders from Vietnamese departments and agencies.
Over the last 20 years, more than half of the US Fortune 100 companies have done business in Vietnam and rolled out Corporate Social responsibility programmes. One of the most remarkable has been Mead Johnson’s co-operation with the National Paediatric Hospital to provide support in screening, diagnosing, and treating inborn metabolic disorder cases in Vietnam, which has helped save the lives of 32 children since the project came into effect in 2014.
In addition, COMMON projects such as providing clean water by Coca-Cola carried out in Khanh Hoa, Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and a Safe Drinking Water for Children programme organised by P&G have also benefited thousands of people across the country.
As of May 2015, US companies had invested over 11 billion dollars in around 740 projects in the country. The US ranks 7th out of the 101 countries and territories investing in Vietnam and the corporations have contributed to tightening links between the two countries.
The ceremony also witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health and the US-ASEAN Business Council, aiming to formalise the partnership and strengthening the healthcare sector in Vietnam.
