VTV.vn - The mangroves are important. They reduce the risk of disasters, creating a natural sea dyke system and helping the locals maintain stable lives.

To protect the mangroves, the CARE International Organization in Vietnam implemented a 330-thousand-dollar project from 2007 to 2011 focused on mangrove reforestation based in Da Loc commune, located in the Hau Loc district of Thanh Hoa province.

Mobilising the whole community to plant and protect mangroves is important for the project's success. Using this model, CARE International in Vietnam, as well as NGOs like CIFPEN, have now surveyed the sea dikes in Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An to find key areas where mangroves can be reforested.
