According to the Bangkok Post, the improvised bomb was thrown from Sathorn Bridge, but hit a pillar and bounced into a canal where it detonated harmlessly, sending up a large plume of water.
The incident followed a huge bomb explosion that appeared to target a popular Hindu shrine in central Bangkok, killing at least 20 people on Monday and wounding about 125 more.
One Vietnamese was reported to be injured. According to the Vietnamese embassy in Thailand, the Vietnamese tourist is currently being treated for minor injuries at a hospital in Bangkok.
