Orchids and Lilies are Da Lat’s two main flowers serving the Tet market; they also bring high profits for growers. Despite the high cost of investment, and that the seeds are imported, Dalat flower growers still invest in Lilies for Tet.
This year, Dalat is growing / will grow / has grown / is expected to grow nearly 160 hectares of lilies, providing the market with 40 million stems, similar to last year. Popular breeds include Manissa, Concador, and Robina.
Although some northern provinces also grow lilies, Da Lat is still the main supplier of flowers for Tet and exporting. Lilies are considered premium flowers with high economic value for growers year round, especially during Tet season. For years, the price of Dalat lilies have remained high: from 2-to-3 USD per 5 stems when purchased at the farm.
