VTV.vn - The Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital has successfully performed an artificial vertebrae replacement surgery for a patient who had suffered from paralysis in the lower part of his body after a traffic accident.

The surgery lasted for 3 hours. Traditional methods to treat spine fractures due to broken vertebrae involved using fibula and the placement of screws often leads to hunchback. The new method has been adopted in the US and European nations, while patient recovery rates have fallen to 3 to 6 months.
