Elephant population found in Quang Nam

VTV.vn - In recent days, the locals of Que Lam in Quang Nam Province have discovered a wild elephant population that have been searching for food in areas close to the community's residential area.

The group comprises of 7 elephants, including a baby elephant. They are currently located near the forests that surround the area, right alongside the local people's fields. The community is worried that the elephants may destroy the crops and that farmers might be in danger of being attacked if working too close by. Forest rangers are being deployed in the area to help ensure the safety of the local people. Currently, the Vietnam Administration of Forestry is completing a zoning proposal for a 19,000-hectare elephant preservation centre in Nong Son District.
