VTV.vn - For the last few years, e-commerce has brought about significant benefits for both enterprises and consumers in Vietnam.

However, due to limits in consumers’ awareness of IT and e-commerce, as well as a lack of legal framework, violations of consumer interests is still a big concern.

A product’s quality not being the same as advertised is one of the most common risks consumers face when they shop online. Recently, many e-commerce platform providers have implemented several measures to reduce risks for consumers.

SIL Company is a platform provider that connects 500 healthcare service businesses and consumers. This company is now applying a set of strict regulations that must be followed by businesses when conducting transactions.

For other enterprises, current regulations on online advertisements and payments are hindering their business. Many enterprises do not sell their products in stores, so online shopping pages are their major channels of distribution. Thus, it has been said that online shopping pages should not be seen as advertisements.

Online enterprises also stressed the need for a complete online payment and logistics system in Vietnam. In addition, building consumers’ trust is also important.

At a recent workshop held by the Vietnam E-commerce & Information Technology Agency (VECITA) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, VECITA’s representatitves said that a number of e-commerce policies, including consumer protection mechanisms, will soon be issued in Vietnam.

E-commerce will become a major trend in the coming years. Thus, a complete legal framework is an urgent demand of not only consumers but also businesses in Vietnam.
