Vietnam-Malaysia joint statement on strategic partnership

The Vietnamese and Malaysian governments have issued a joint statement on the framework for their bilateral strategic partnership. The Malaysian Prime Minister emphasized that this was a milestone for the two countries' cooperation in various fields.

The two nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the extension of PM3 CAA between Petronas and PetroVietnam. On this occasion, the State Bank of Vietnam granted a certificate to the Malaysian Bank CIMB to open a wholly foreign-owned bank in Vietnam. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Malaysian counterpart Najib Rajak agreed to upgrade the existing Vietnam-Malaysia comprehensive partnership to the strategic partnership level at their talks in Kuala Lumpur on August 7.
