Peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region and Southeast Asia must go hand in hand with guaranteeing peace and stability in the East Sea, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in the 10th East Asia Summit meeting held yesterday morning in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
He stressed that cooperation in maritime issues is necessary to ensure peace and stability in the East Sea, as well as for development of the region. Accordingly, preserving security, safety, and freedom of East Sea navigation and aviation should be the responsibility of all ASEAN member nations. Prime Minister Nguyen Tuan Dung also encouraged all involved countries to follow a non-military strategy to build faith and ease tensions during the settlement of East sea disputes.
