LONG AN — A junior secondary school was inaugurated on Sunday in Bình Thành Commune, a poor remote commune of Long An province’s Đức Huệ border district.
Funds for the construction worth VNĐ46 billion (US$2 million) was sponsored by the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.
The school, with 12 classrooms, 23 working rooms, took two years to build.
The Bình Thành Junior Secondary School is expected to create good conditions for teachers and students to improve educational quality in border areas.
On the same day, 11 rural bridges were inaugurated in Mộc Hóa, Thanh Hóa and Đức Huệ districts in the province.
Total investment for the 11 bridges was VNĐ15 billion ($472,700), the Nhân Dân (People) newspaper reported.
Travel within the three districts which border Cambodia is difficult. The 11 bridges will help reduce difficulties and contribute to socio-economic development in the area.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình praised enterprises and sponsors helping the province to build school and bridges.
The Deputy PM asked the province to maintain the construction work and use them effectively. — VNS
