HCM CITY – Microsoft said it plans to undertake programmes to narrow the digital technology gap in Việt Nam.

The company’s Việt Nam CEO, Phạm Nhật Trường, said since 2015 Microsoft has spent US$3 million on this programme.

It has co-operated with local authorities and non-profits to train youths in digital technologies.

It has also trained over 2,000 teachers to support the programme.

So far nearly 200,000 have benefited from the programme and 79-90 per cent have found jobs after the training.

Trường said helping young people enrich their digital technology knowledge is important for the development of the country as Việt Nam would become one of the 10 fastest growing economies in the world by 2050.

Microsoft said it would continue to support the Ministry of Education and Training in expanding computer science education in the country. VNS
