A man in northern Vietnam brutally killed his wife by stabbing her 18 times out of jealousy while the couple were in the hospital to care for their sick child.
Police in Phu Tho Province on Saturday arrested Ha Van Minh, 29, for murdering his wife Le Thi Loan, 28.
According to police investigation, Minh and Loan had been in conflict prior to the murder, as Minh suspected his wife to have an affair with another man.
Loan left their home on June 18 and cut off all contact with Minh following this quarrel.
On Friday, as their child got sick, Minh took the kid to the General Hospital of Thanh Thuy District in Phu Tho and called Loan, asking her to come.
Loan arrived at the hospital that evening, and stayed for the night to take care of the kid.
At around 10:00 pm, when lights in the room had been turned off for bedtime, the couple stayed up with Minh trying to strike up a conversation with Loan.
According to the man’s testimony, Loan ignored his efforts to persuade her to return home, and continued to use her smartphone to text someone.
Angered and jealous, Minh came at Loan with a knife and stabbed her multiple times, killing her on the spot.
Minh was shortly arrested by Phu Tho police, who later found a total of 18 stab wounds on Loan’s body.
Further investigation is under way.
