HÀ NỘI — The Hà Nội Transport and Services Corporation, Transerco, has recently added 15 more European-standard buses to its trial operation on route No 03 (Giáp Bát Bus Station-Gia Lâm Bus Station).
The trial of the buses was part of a series of activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution on November 7 and to implement the direction of the city People’s Committee on improving the quality of public passenger transport by bus.
The new buses - painted blue with the logo of the company - were designed and manufactured in Europe and equipped with several technological devices.
Each bus has an independent cabin for the driver and is equipped with three information LED electronic boards, free Wi-Fi and modern GPS management software system, making them more convenient for passengers.
At the announcement ceremony on Tuesday, Transerco’s Hà Nội Electric Vehicle Joint-Stock Company officially introduced its new brand-name Daewoo BC095 bus, produced by the Daewoo Vietnam factory, which will be put into operation on the route from Giáp Bát Bus Station to Hospital for Tropical Diseases No 2.
To improve the quality of public transport, until November 7 this year, Transerco had replaced 215 buses. It hopes to replace another 17 buses by the end of the year.
The number of new vehicles in 2017 accounted for over 20 per cent of Transerco’s total buses. This is the largest number of vehicles ever invested in a year.
So far this year, Transerco has opened 15 routes, against the planned 16 bus routes. The new routes have contributed to increasing the service quality for passengers and will help to step-by-step reach the goal of covering the city’s 30 districts and towns by bus. — VNS
