Companies in HCM City will need around 25,000 additional workers this month, nearly 20 per cent more than in August, a survey by the HCM City Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market Information has found.

They are mainly needed in trading, transportation-logistics-warehousing-export-import, real estate, engineering-automation, marketing-public relations, architecture-construction, and electronics.

Trần Lê Thanh Trúc, the centre’s deputy director, said more than 81 per cent of the new workers the companies require would either need to be highly skilled or trained.

Many companies said they had enhanced investment in equipment and machinery and technology.

Nguyễn Quang Cường, director of the city Youth Employment Services Centre, said workers should take the initiative to improve their skills and learn to adapt quickly to their working environment.

Companies should enable their workers to develop their skills and offer them generous benefits, he said.

The centre has organised free training courses in sales, IT, English, Korean, and others.

This year the centre will organise eight job fairs and expects to attract 200 enterprises requiring nearly 2,000 workers.

Senior management level

A report on the demand for senior managers in Việt Nam by Navigos Search based on its clients’ hiring needs in the second quarter said FDI inflows into the construction of factories have led to the rise of industrial real estate.

Many companies have been expanding, also impacting the demand for real estate leasing.

But major cities were no longer the only destinations for investors, and there was strong growth in new markets like Hải Phòng, Vũng Tàu and the provinces of Quảng Ninh, Thanh Hóa, Bình Thuận, and others.

In all these cases, companies recruited people for key positions, and demand is forecast to be steady in the second half too.

Corporations that expanded recruited more people in senior positions.

Foreign experts were sought after for positions related to engineering and real estate operation management.

The chemical industry, which benefited from the setting up of new factories and expansion, dramatically increased recruitment as demand for personnel tripled in the second quarter.

Navigos Search identified a shift from the south to the north by chemical companies due to strong demand there.

Recruitment demand in industrial zones in Bình Dương Province and Biên Hòa City in Đồng Nai continues to increase.

The signing of free trade agreements by the country is opening up opportunities for investment in professional services such as after-sales, advertising, HR consulting, healthcare, and others.

Navigos Search said companies were in the process of exploring the market and demand for recruitment services increased by 50 per cent in the second quarter. VNS
