-- Within the framework of his official visit to Japan, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is scheduled to take part in the 23rd International Conference on the Future of Asia on Monday morning and attend a conference with nearly 1,500 business leaders from the two countries.

-- The frigate HMAS Ballarat of the Royal Australian Navy arrived at Tien Sa Port in the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang on Sunday afternoon, commencing its five-day visit.

 

-- A fisherman in the south-central province of Phu Yen has become the first person in the locality to catch a bluefin tuna on Sunday morning. The fish weighed 240 kilograms and was worth over VND60 million (US$2,639).

-- Following extremely scorching weather on the weekend, temperatures in Hanoi and other provinces in northern Vietnam are forecast to remain high on Monday but start to cool down on Tuesday, according to the National Center for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting.

-- The number of fatalities due to serious complications after renal dialysis at Hoa Binh General Hospital in the namesake province has risen to eight after Nguyen Thi Bich Nguyen, 45, passed away on Sunday morning.

-- A six-year-old girl and three-year-old boy drowned on Saturday evening after accidentally falling into a pond in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum.

-- Police in the north-central province of Nghe An are probing a case in which a group of suspects charged into a house and assaulted N.T.H., manager of a local passenger bus line, on May 30.     

-- Severe congestion occurred on a long section of the Hanoi Highway in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday evening after a truck lost control and got into an accident.

 

-- While competent authorities in Phu Yen Province stated that the recent mass lobster deaths were caused by high stocking density and dirty water from leftover feed, local farmers insisted that the incident was brought about by pollution stemming from nearby factories.
