Youth actively participates in voluntary blood donation

VTV.vn - Young people nationwide have continued to take part in the voluntary blood donation movement in response to a call from Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong.

On April 18, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ha Tinh province in coordination with the province’s Red Cross Society and Ha Tinh General Hospital launched a voluntary blood donation programme with the message ‘Safe blood donation, no fear of COVID-19’ and received 273 units of blood.

A large number of Youth Union members registered to join the programme but the organisers only arranged for 300 people to donate blood on the launch day to ensure proper conditions were maintained regarding COVID-19 pandemic prevention.

Organisers also advised donors to register for blood donation by phone and arranged different donation timeframes to avoid lots of people gathering at the one time.

*In Hanoi, the Department of External Security, the Department of Internal Security, the Department of Internal Political Security, the Department of Economic Security and the Department of Investigation Security in coordination with the Vietnam – Germany Hospital held a blood donation programme on April 17.

Themed ‘A drop of blood donated, a life saved’, the programme collected 250 units of blood.

*The police force of Cao Bang province also organised a blood donation programme on April 17 and collected more than 240 units of blood.

*Nearly 300 units of blood were also donated by more than 300 police officers in Phu Yen province on the same day.

Two additional blood donation programmes are expected to be held by the police force in Phu Yen province in the near future in a bid to collect 1,000 units of blood.

*On the same day, 500 police officers in Bac Giang province also participated in blood donation in the locality.
