The success of the event is attributed to a group of Vietnamese youngsters. While all 17 musicians and 35 performers involved in the project may be amateurs, they've managed to bring the high-brow art of opera to the general public.
In order to join the production, some performers have had to postpone their studies abroad for 6 months. In addition, there are also many other amateur musicians and performers who are involved in the production. The play requires performers to master their singing, acting and dancing skills.
“We are all amateurs. We love music, opera and dancing so we help each other using our own strengths. Dancers teach singers to dance and singers teach dancers to sing”, Hua Thanh Tu – a performer – said.
Many people have praised HOPE as a great achievement for Vietnam's youth, with tickets to the show becoming increasingly scarce. After each show, the efforts of the show's performers are all worth it as they're greeted by the audience's warm applause.
