VTV.vn - The National Office of Intellectual Property under the Ministry of Science and Technology on November 26 granted geographical indication certificates for Suoi Giang Shan Tuyet tea, Van Chan oranges and Van Chan honey produced in Van Chan.

Suoi Giang Commune has over 500 hectares of commercial Shan Tuyet tea with an annual output of about 600 tonnes of fresh tea buds. The commune also has about 400 ancient tea trees ranging from 100 to 350 years old.

Tea plays an important role in spiritual life of the locals and in poverty alleviation and community tourism development.

Van Chan District currently has more than 2,000 hectares of oranges, with an output of 10,000 tonnes per year and total revenue of nearly 200 billion VND.

Van Chan’s Tu Le sticky rice and wattle-necked softshell turtle were also granted geographical indication, helping to boost the local economy.
