The latest figures show that the numbers of HIV/AIDS patients and AIDS-related deaths in the worlds over the past decade have decreased significantly.
According to UN reports, the number of people being treated with antiretroviral drugs (ARV) has doubled since 2010, while new HIV cases has decreased by 35% since 2000. However, 22 million people in the world lack access to ARV treatment.
The world has exceeded the AIDS targets of Millennium Development Goals and is looking to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030 as part of the Sustainable Development Goals that were adopted by the UN this year.
