This acts as a forum to connect, cooperate and share towardscontributing to the realisation of the Government's forestry development programme in the spirit of Resolution No. 84/NQ-CP and the message of the United Nations on the “Decade of Ecological Restoration”.
The central and Central Highlands regions have an important strategic role and position in terms of the economic, social, political, defense, security and environmental development of the whole country; a place with much potential and advantages in sustainable agro-forestry development, renewable energy, and tourism.
Forests in the regions have high biodiversity value, associated with the lives of ethnic minorities. The forests have an important position in terms of the ecological environment, biodiversity and water source protection, as well as climate regulation for the region and surrounding areas.
At this seminar, with the theme "Sustainable forestry development", more than 100 delegates discussed and shared their experiences and proposed solutions for the central and Central Highlands regions.
Many ideas were given towards contributing to the conservation of biodiversity in the central region and the Central Highlands, such as: continuing to perfect mechanisms and policies for forestry development to promote efficiency improvement and bring into play the multi-use value of forests; strictly controlling the conversion of use purposes of natural forest land and water surface with conservation value; adopting policies to support people's livelihoods in the buffer zone; preserving and promoting community culture with sustainable forestry development (ethnic minority forest protection customs, thanksgiving ceremonies, forest worshiping ceremonies ); developing quality human resources for sustainable forestry development; maintaining and replicating forest restoration models.
