The Hoa Binh 2 wind farm and the second phase of Hoa Binh 1 will have a combined capacity of 100 megawatts at a total cost of over VND5.2 trillion (nearly US$226.5 million).
According to the investor Phuong Anh Investment and Construction Company, the second stage of the Hoa Binh 1 project will share infrastructure with the first stage to save land and reduce environmental impacts.
It is being constructed in a coastal area covering 935 hectares in the communes of Vinh Hau and Vinh Hau A in Hoa Binh District.
The Hoa Binh 2 project, which covers 1,119 hectares, is being constructed in Vinh Thinh Commune, also in the same district.
Scheduled for completion by November next year, the two wind farms are expected to generate 400 million kWh and revenue of VND800 billion (US$34.8 million) annually.
Bac Lieu Chairman Duong Thanh Trung said the development of wind power projects in coastal areas is appropriate given the province’s strengths and orientation for green development.
He pledged that the provincial authorities will create the most favourable conditions for the two projects to be implemented on schedule.
