The road will have a total length of about 24.7km, passing through 18 communes and towns in the 5 districts of Nam Truc, Truc Ninh, Xuan Truong, Hai Hau and Giao Thuy. It will be 39 metres wide, including eight lanes, and has been designed for speeds of up to 100km/h.
The project’s contractor is a joint venture between Nasaco Construction Joint Stock Company and Trung Nam Construction Investment Joint Stock Company. The project is expected to be completed in 48 months.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Chairman of the Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee Pham Dinh Nghi said that once completed, the project will contribute to completing and modernising the province's road traffic network, increasing the province’s connectivity with regional and national transport systems.
It will also shorten the travel time from the southern districts to Nam Dinh City, Hanoi and other localities in the Red River Delta.
In addition, the project will open development opportunities for the southern districts by creating favourable conditions to attract investment and promoting socio-economic growth.
He asked the People's Committees in the districts of Nam Truc, Truc Ninh, Xuan Truong, Hai Hau and Giao Thuy to complete site clearance in order to ensure project progress and promote investment efficiency.
He also requested that the contractors ensure the project’s quality and schedule while guaranteeing labour safety and environmental sanitation.
