The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association and Thai Nguyen University.
This year, the contest was held on a national scale for the first time ever, as part of activities to contribute to deepening the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, while strengthening cooperation on education and culture and creating a healthy playground to help raise the Vietnamese capacity for Lao students studying in Vietnam, as well as promoting Vietnam-Laos cultural exchange.
Launched in August 2019, the competition has received warm response from nearly 2,000 Lao students in Vietnam.
Passing the previous rounds, on the final night, 12 Lao finalists studying at 12 universities across Vietnam presented their speeches surrounded by the theme "Vietnam – I love" in Vietnamese, accompanied by attractive illustrations, praising the traditional relationship of the two peoples, as well as the history and culture of Vietnam and the contestants’ thinking about Vietnam.
Through their presentations, the Laos students brought deep impressions and insights and their love to Uncle Ho and Vietnam.
The organisers decided to present a special top prize to contestant Boun Soukhaluck from the Thai Nguyen University of Education (under the Thai Nguyen University) for his presentation entitled "Vietnam-Laos Friendship." One first, three second and seven third prizes were also granted to the winners at the event.
On the morning of November 9, the contestants joined other Lao students to visit and learn about the history of Vietnam’s revolution at the national special monument of Dinh Hoa Resistant Base in Thai Nguyen.
