VTV.vn - A ceremony was held in Hanoi on December 29 to honour the winners of the ‘Russia in My Heart’ writing contest in 2020.

The ‘Russia in My Heart’ writing contest is one of the practical and meaningful activities to mark the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Fundamental Principles of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship (1994-2020) and the 70th founding anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (January 30, 1950 - January 30, 2020).

The event was attended by Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, who is also a Party Central Committee member, a member of the Central Military Commission, and Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; and journalist Ho Quang Loi, the permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists' Association; along with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and central and local press agencies.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Senior Colonel Ngo Anh Thu, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Newspaper, said that the ‘Russia in My Heart’ writing contest in 2020 attracted the participation of a large number of journalists and collaborators from both inside and outside the military.

The entries reflected the deep memories of the Russian land and people; the traditional solidarity and the multi-faceted assistance of the people of the former Soviet Union and Russia for the Vietnamese revolution during different historical periods; and the significant contributions made by the two countries’ leaders and armies in building, consolidating and strengthening the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership. In particular, the symbolic works of the cooperation between Vietnam and Russia, such as Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hoa Binh Hydropower, Vietnam - Russia Tropical Centre, Thang Long Bridge, and the Vietnam-Russia oil and gas joint venture, were conveyed in many entries.

Six months after launching, the Organising board had received more than 300 entries, of which nearly 100 works were selected and published by the People's Army Newspaper.

The organising board presented one first prize, two second prizes, three third prizes and ten Consolation prizes to the 16 best works.

In addition, 14 authors and 7 units with high scores in the final round were also honoured.

Representatives of the organising board emphasised that the results of the contest have made an important contribution to preserving and promoting the history of fine traditional friendly relations between the people and the armies of the two countries, as well as to consolidating and strengthening the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.
