Within the call, Dr. Takeshi Kasai highly appreciated the results Vietnam has achieved in implementing the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, becoming one of the six countries with the highest vaccination coverage rates in the world.
He also expressed his impression of Vietnam's efforts and achievements in the care for and protection of people's health.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Long and Dr. Takeshi Kasai also discussed the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic, with special priority given to the vaccination of children and strengthening information about the vaccination benefits.
The Vietnamese minister also expressed his gratitude to WHO, Dr. Takeshi Kasai and other officials at WHO for having devoted so much attention and support to the healthcare of the Vietnamese people over the years.
The two officials also discussed the organisation of an international conference in the near future to share about the response to dangerous infectious diseases, strengthening the capacity of the health system and providing universal health coverage.
Minister Long also suggested that the WHO act as a bridge to help Vietnam cooperate with other countries to strengthen the management capacity of pharmaceuticals and healthcare and promote technology transfer and capacity training for medical workers and others.
