The programme was a greeting as well as the readiness of Ho Chi Minh City to welcome both domestic and international tourists when COVID-19 pandemic was under control.
The launching ceremony drew the participation and exchange of information on tourism promotion of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City, from over 30 Vietnamese representative agencies abroad including more than 10 ambassadors to Saudi Arabia, Australia, Hungary, South Africa, Israel, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Kuwait.
The event also featured speeches made by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Eurocham), along with airlines, leading tourism businesses, groups and hotels in Ho Chi Minh City.
The organising board introduced the identity set including videos, sets of photos, introductions, posters and postcards for the programme.
The programme “Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City” will take place from March to September through the organisation of various events including: the eighth Ho Chi Minh Ao Dai Festival, the 18th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival, the 2022 Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo, the Ho Chi Minh City Cuisine Festival, the sixth Ho Chi Minh City International Marathon, the exchange with international chef Michelin, and the Hot-air Balloon Festival.
In addition, a wide variety of attractive activities will be held to promote the image of the land, culture and people of Ho Chi Minh City including: Vietnamese Tet Festival, Dragon and Lion Dance Festival, the Southern Fruit Festival, the Orchid Festival, the festival honouring the essence of Vietnamese rice and agricultural products and Saigon Bread Festival.

The cooperation projects of tourism recovery and development between Ho Chi Minh City and various provinces and cities around the country will continue. The travel agencies and businesses will enthusiastically join the programme “Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City” with hundreds of attractive promotional packages for tourists.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Duong Anh Duc praised the active preparations made by the City’s Tourism Department as well as the strong participation of other departments and the support from diplomatic and press agencies.
The welcoming of 130 foreign tourists from the US to the City proved that Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, have become attractive destinations for international tourists.
