The first prize went to Little Lunch (The nightmare before graduation) of Australian broadcaster ABC.
It is one of the two entries by the VTV Educational Program Departments sent to compete in the Primary and Youth categories. The other is Deadlines.
Both made it to the final and screened at Japan Prize 2017. The producers Ngo Lien and Phan Y Linh and director Nhat Duy went to Tokyo to receive the award on behalf of the production crews as well as exchange with the audience on the documentaries production.
Previously, Way to school was awarded the Special Prize by the ABU Prizes 2016 jury board.
