According to the city People’s Committee, up to 95% of accommodation and service businesses throughout the city have closed down completely, leaving more than 5,000 employees in the tourism sector and nearly 12,000 labourers in other industries unemployed. The pandemic has also made the city fail to reach its economic development goals for 2021.
Given the situation, the city People's Committee has taken a series of effective solutions to provide complete support for tourism businesses to quickly resume their operations.
In addition to strengthening pandemic prevention and control measures, the city’s authorities have worked to ensure safety for beach goers, increase environmental sanitation, improve traffic safety, maintain social security and order, and enhance price control and market management.
The city has also planned to host cultural and sporting events, street art performances at weekends, and develop more check-in places at several tourist attractions in Vung Tau city, including the Con Heo (Pig) Hill, Lon (Big) and Nho (Small) Mountains.
