VPA/FLEGT to take effect in early June 2019

On May 8, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the EU mission to Hanoi jointly held a press conference to announce the end of the ratification and approval process of the agreement.

Vietnam is the second country in Asia that the bloc has signed a VPA/FLEGT with after Indonesia. The EU is the fourth biggest import market of Vietnamese wood products. In recent years, wood exports to the market have accounted for 13-17 percent of the total turnover of Vietnamese timber products.
