Specifically, the price per ton of the 5% broken rice is 20 USD higher than the same variety from Thailand, 70 USD higher than that of Pakistan, and 115 USD higher than India's, according to the Vietnam Food Association.
This is also the first time in 30 years of exporting rice that the price of Vietnamese rice has been equal to Thailand, and has passed Thai's 5% broken rice by 20 USD/ton. Other varieties from Vietnam are also enjoying good export prices.
According to many exporters, the reason why Vietnamese rice is being purchased at high prices is due to the improvement in its quality and availability, and its fast delivery.
