A welcome ceremony for the PM and his entourage was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing later the same day. The Vietnamese leader then held talks with his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang and high-level meetings with Chinese Communist Party and state leaders.
At the meeting, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc appreciated the progress in Vietnam-China co-operation in several fields, specifically in the export of Vietnamese agro produce like rice, meat, milk and fruit juice to China. Prime Minister Phuc also welcomed investment from China in high-tech, renewable energy and support industries. He also pushed the implementation of the 250 million USD loan for the Cat Linh- Ha Dong metro line.
PM Phuc said Vietnam pursues a consistent external policy of peace, independence, multilateralisation and diversification, combined with strengthening the friendship and co-operation with China as one of its leading priorities.
After the talk, the two sides witnessed the signing of 9 co-operation documents
Including the joint 5-year development economic co-operation plan 2017-2021; an agreement on non-refundable aid between Vietnam and China, a US$250 million loan for the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro line and other agreements on education co-operation and climate change mitigation.
On the afternoon of Monday, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress.
The two sides have reached important consensus on deepening bilateral comprehensive strategic co-operation. China is willing to work with Vietnam to push forward the long-term and healthy development of bilateral ties.
Phuc said Vietnam attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic co-operative partnership with China as well as exchanges and joint work between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, also met with the Vietnamese prime minister on Monday.
Yu said the CPPCC attaches great importance to the friendly and co-operative relations with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and is willing to maintain close exchanges with Vietnam to promote bilateral friendship.
He spoke highly of the co-operation between the VIETNAM Fatherland Front and the CPPCC and said he hopes the two sides will deepen their ties.
VM Phuc's official visit will conclude on September 15.
