They were transiting in Singapore on the way back to Vietnam but their connecting flight with Singapore Airlines was cancelled. After being notified of the situation, the Embassy immediately contacted the airlines to find a suitable solution, as well as getting in touch with Changi airport authority to request support for Vietnamese citizens while waiting for a new flight to be arranged.
At 9 am on Tuesday, these thirty-seven citizens boarded Singapore Airlines flight SQ176 to Hanoi. Most of them are students coming home from the Philippines, Malaysia, the U.S, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. Since Monday night, Singapore has suspended entries and transit for all short-term visitors.
