The Google logo, or Google Doodle, showcases the different stages of creating bánh mì which are sketched in a lively and eye-catching colored animation. This is the first time a particular Vietnamese dish has been honored by Google.
“Some accounts post Banh Mi humble beginnings to the late 1950s street stalls of Saigon’s noisy alleys, but an official origin story is yet to be verified. What is universally accepted about Banh Mi history is its French inspiration, the staple baguette sandwich,” according to Google Doodle.
Together with phở, bánh mì is one of the prominent representatives of the rich cuisine of Việt Nam. They've conquered a large number of diners globally.
The Vietnamese sandwich has been repeatedly recognized by international culinary experts and various media outlets as one of the top street foods in the world.
