In his opening speech, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang emphasised the significance of Tet in Vietnamese culture, noting that it is not only a time for family reunions but also symbolises love for the homeland and community bonds.
The diplomat highlighted that 2025 is an important year for Vietnam, marking several significant anniversaries, including the 80th National Day, 50th anniversary of national reunification, and 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh.
He also reviewed Vietnam’s notable socio-economic achievements in 2024, including an impressive economic growth rate of 7.09%, while Vietnam continued to be a bright spot for foreign investment.
Ambassador Hoang praised the Vietnamese community in Austria for maintaining their spirit of mutual love and unity, adhering to local laws, and successfully integrating into Austrian society.
The Ambassador thanked the community for responding to the appeal from the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria, raising nearly 20,000 EUR to support those affected by Typhoon Yagi in late September 2024.
At the Lunar New Year celebrations, attendees and guests enjoyed various traditional Tet dishes and a special cultural performance programme.
