VTV.vn - Doctors from the Ho Chi Minh City-based Binh Dan Hospital have supported Philippine General Hospital (the Philippines) to perform gastric surgeries with robotic arms for two morbidly obese patients weighing over 130kg each.

As a guidance expert, recommended by the manufacturer of Da Vinci Surgical Robot System, Intuitive (the US), doctor Nguyen Phu Huu helped Filipino colleagues to conduct the first robot-assisted surgeries in the country on October 24.

Robotic surgery allowed surgeons to effectively remove the stomach, while limiting blood loss, as well as helped patients to recover quickly.

On the afternoon of October 25, Vietnamese experts continued to guide Filipino doctors with in-depth lectures on robotic gastrointestinal robotic surgery.

As the first medical facility using robotic arms in surgeries for adults in Vietnam, Binh Dan Hospital has been appreciated by both domestic and international experts.

Philippine General Hospital, which is located in the Philippines’ capital city of Manila, is one of the largest ones in the Philippines, with 1,500 beds.
