Vietnamese contestant crowned queen in Thai transgender pageant

VTV.vn - Vietnam’s Nguyen Huong Giang was crowned “Miss International Queen” in Thailand yesterday.

The beauty queen, 26, is the first Vietnamese to attend the competition, the world’s largest and most prestigious beauty pageant for transgender women that has been held annually in Thailand since 2004. She also won the Best Talent and Most Popular Introductory Video awards.

The First Runner-up was Jacqueline from Australia while Rinrada Thurapan of Thailand was second runner-up. The mission of the pageant aims to promote LGBT and transgender awareness and equality.

Giang received permission from the Department of Performing Arts to attend the transgender pageant. She flew to Thailand on February 25 to compete in the Miss International Queen pageant.
