Vietnamese awarded New Zealand ASEAN Scholarship
VTV.vn - Thanks to the New Zealand ASEAN Scholarship, Nguyễn Văn Long from the Department of Animal Health had a chance to study at Massey University.

Improving human resource capacity has been an urgent need of Vietnam in the era of integration. To help realise this target, Vietnam has received support from international friends. The New Zealand’s ASEAN Scholarship is one such support.

It was listed in the top 15 leading veterinarian schools worldwide by the QS world university ranking in the UK.

"This is an island country, so they have lots of experience in epidemic control and prevention. For example, analysis of pathogen intrusion risks, and methods to prevent outbreak. Many countries highly appreciate the education on epidemics there." - Nguyen Van Long, Deivision Head, Aquatic Animal Health, Department of Animal Health, MARD.

This year, 30 Vietnamese students were awarded scholarships and will start their post-graduate programme this month. They will receive full tuition fees, airfare, a living allowance, and assistance with research and thesis costs for their time in New Zealand.

Since 1994, over 200 Vietnamese have been awarded this scholarship. Scholarships from developed nations like New Zealand will contribute to improving the skills of the Vietnamese labour force. This will help Vietnam meet some of the increasing demand for skilled workers in the integration era.
