Vietnamese and international artists joined together for unique arrangements and performances. The tune of Telemann’s Concerto in B-flat major opened the Baroque concert on the first night of the Vietnamese - American Music Festival. Baroque is a style of Western music born after the Renaissance, which set the groundwork for the Classical period. This was an opportunity for Vietnamese artists, researchers, and audience members to learn more about Baroque music.
The concert introduced 6 concertos composed during the Baroque period, using classical instruments from the 15 - 16 century such as violin, cello, viola, and harpsichord. Two Vietnamese artists performed with the ensemble: baroque violinist Chuong Vu and violinist Bui Cong Duy. The cooperation between international and Vietnamese artists has proven that Vietnam’s classical music scene has been increasingly recognized by the international community.
In addition to musical performances, the 2015 Vietnamese - American Music Festival will also organize exchanges and discussions. The last performance of the festival, featuring the International Chamber Players, artists from the Vietnam National Academy of Music, and American guests in a Romantic masterpieces concert, will take place on August 22.
