Vietnam wins high prizes at international maths contest

VTV.vn - All 32 Vietnamese students won prizes at the 2019 World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) held in Fukuoka, Japan.

The students are all from primary and secondary schools in Hanoi's Hoan Kiem District. The delegation won three diamond, nine gold, seven silver, eight bronze, and three consolation prizes.

This year's competition saw the participation of 1,500 students from 23 countries and territories, including the US, China, and Bulgaria. This is the first time Vietnamese students participated in the contest.

Among the three Vietnamese contestants who received diamond prizes, Lương Mạnh Đức, grade 9 at Trưng Vương secondary school, won the special award for highest score of all.
