The figures affirmed that Vietnam continued to be an attractive destination for international tourists.
Accordingly, arrivals by air increased 6.3% compared to the same period in 2018, while those arriving by land and sea rose 23.7% and 17.5%, respectively.
In May alone, the number of foreign visitors to the country reached over 1.3 million, up 14.3% over the same period last year.
Over the past five months, tourists from Asia were estimated at 5.6 million, accounting for 76.8% of the total number of international visitors, meaning a year-on-year increase of 9.9%.
The number of European arrivals rose by 5.9% year-on-year, while those from America, Oceania and Africa were up 4.9%,1.5% and 9.2%, respectively.
Vietnam is also projected to receive 18 million foreign visitors and serve 85 million domestic tourists in 2019, earning total revenue of over VND700 trillion.
