Last week, Prime Minister Phuc met with British Prime Minister Theresa May at the ASEM summit in Belgium. The two PMs discussed ways to boost bilateral relations. The PM praised the proposal of a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) with the UK after it officially left the EU. PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc also suggested that the UK help Vietnam access capital from the Prosperous Fund to improve its business environment, respond to climate change, and develop infrastructure.
Emphasizing its support for free trade, Ambassador Gareth Ward said that the UK welcomes the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and would urge the signing of the agreement soon.
