At the meeting, the Vietnamese leader thanked the US for creating favorable conditions for Vietnam to export products such as pangasius, shrimp and fruits to the US.
He also affirmed that Vietnam and the US have been cooperating well with regards to issues of mutual concern, and suggested that the two countries continue to cooperate closely when it comes to economic, trade, security and defense in 2019. US Ambassador Daniel Kritenbrink affirmed that the United States is committed to helping Vietnam overcome the consequences of war, strengthening cooperation in national security, and strengthening Vietnam’s maritime law enforcement capabilities. The US Ambassador also said that the US considers Vietnam as an important regional partner and wants to develop relations with ASEAN for regional peace, cooperation, and development.
