At the event, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for South and Southeast Asia Amy Searight expressed her delight at the development of the two countries’ relations and their defense ties in particular.
Discussing the current situation, the two sides shared the opinion that the Asia-Pacific region is facing the risk of instability and conflict, which requires nations involved to exercise restraint, participate in peace talks, share viewpoints, and unite at multilateral forums. Looking forward, the two sides agreed to continue developing defense relations in line with the comprehensive bilateral partnership.
On the occasion, Mr. Vinh handed over several war remembrances of US soldiers who fought in Vietnam. During his stay in the US, the officer also met Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Christine Wormuth.
